Hello! I'm Brian Chen, a second-year engineering undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, with a strong focus on low-level and systems programming. I'm seeking internship opportunities where I can apply and expand my skills in systems development, backend programming, and scalable application design. I have experience working with low-level systems, building scalable web applications, and leveraging cloud technologies.

• Roku, Inc. - Software Engineer Intern July-September 2024

Collaborated with two full-time engineers during the 12-week internship. Contributed to Python and TypeScript codebases, developed production middleware, and updated frontend based on UI/UX designs. Delivered a scalable solution to automate content generation and verification using large language models, impacting millions of users.

• Project Openify - Large Language Models and Blockchain Integration July 2024

Developed a frontend and backend in 12 hours. Integrated Polkadot blockchain and OpenAI, creating a system that handles transactions and account queries. Won first place in a hackathon, competing against 60 projects.

• Project ReceiVe - Web3 dApp March 2024

Served as the lead full-stack developer, completing blockchain integration and building frontend/middleware in 24 hours. Project was a finalist (top 7 out of 40 projects).

• Project EasyPass - Machine Learning and Cloud Computing February 2024

Trained an open-source large language model (LLM) using 1000 university exam questions. Built a backend system that processed user uploads and generated exam questions for self-study purposes.

• Project EDCal - Workflow Automation December 2023

Created and deployed web applications that assist students in filtering events and cleaning departmental lecture and lab calendars.
